LOCAL AREA ATTRACTIONS
Established in 1954, Pioneer Auto Show continues to be an attraction of over 250 antique, classic and muscle cars. Special motorcycle room features Elvis Presley’s personal cycle and the Dukes’ “General Lee.” Collections of tractors, toys, guns. music machines, Americana and Zeitner mineral display. Hours vary.
Tour an authentic 1880 era historic town from buildings to their contents. The displays and buildings range from Indian relics from the 1870s to the 14-sided barn built in 1919. Experience their life with costume rentals available at the Longhorn Saloon. Many displays including movie props from “Dances of Wolves”. Located off I-90 at Exit 170. While at the 1880 town, you can view memorabilia from the late Casey Tibbs, a champion rodeo bronc rider as well as many props that were used in filming the movie ‘Dances with Wolves’. 1880 Town is located 22 miles west of Murdo, South Dakota, just off Interstate 90 at exit 170.
Jones County Sportsmen Club
The Jones County Sportsmen Club recently expanded its services for those interested in shooting and archery!
Prairie Dog Hunting:
Hotel guests are all allowed access to hunt on Iversen property, over 200 acres of prairie dog grounds located about 10 miles from the Iversen Inn itself. Reservations are suggested for this thriving hunting area and a small fee may apply for use of the hunting grounds. Please call for availability.
Murdo Swimming Pool, Tennis Courts and Basketball Courts
Boasting a full size pool ranging from 3 feet to 10 feet, the Murdo pool is the perfect place to relax on a hot day or take the family for some fun. The Murdo pool even offers a special 1 foot wading pool for toddlers!
Located next to the swimming pool and recently renovated are tennis and basketball courts New backboards and tennis nets, as well as benches for spectators were installed by the ‘Jones County Turner Youth Foundation’.
